FAQ

For former patients of Dr. Lu, the following may help answer some of your questions concerning the transition you and Dr. Lu are sharing.

Is Dr. Lu leaving? Quitting medicine?
No to both!  Dr. Lu is passionate about living in Mt. Shasta and assisting patients in their paths towards healing and wellness.  Dr. Lu is restructuring her practice in an effort to better serve the needs of patients seeking a proactive approach to medical treatment.

Will I be able to see Dr. Lu in the future?
Yes.  Dr. Lu will be accepting patients, beginning in August, who possess the intention and motivation to participate responsibly in their health, restoration, and healing.

What is the reason Dr. Lu is closing her current practice?
The short answer: to focus on her passion—holistic healing that addresses every element affecting a person’s overall health.

There is, of course, a longer answer.  Over the last 9 years providing patient care in Mt. Shasta, Dr. Lu has become increasingly aware that integrative and lifestyle medicine is often a more effective, proactive approach towards health than traditional medicine.  As an internist, Dr. Lu firmly believes in thoroughness and patient education during office visits.  Unfortunately, the current health care model for physicians demands high patient volume to sustain a practice’s viability, a demand at odds with Dr. Lu’s philosophy of patient care.  In order to both better serve her patients as well as maintain solvency, Dr. Lu is venturing onto a path less traveled as she restructures her model of practice.  For a deeper look at the factors underlying Dr. Lu’s transition into a new form of practice, read this.

What will be the focus of Dr. Lu’s new practice?
On August 1, 2007, Dr. Lu will be opening a wellness and integrative medicine consultation practice, based in her current office location at 830 Pine Street in Mt. Shasta.  She looks forward to working cooperatively with you and your primary care physician as a consulting resource for your wellness and lifestyle concerns.

Some areas central to Dr. Lu’s practice include:

  • Holistic healing that addresses every element affecting a person’s overall health.
  • Healing through individualized nutrition, weight management, and exercise programs.
  • Cellular detoxification and bio-identical & natural hormone rejuvenation.
  • Working with other health care professionals in the community in promoting proactive, preventive, and optimal wellbeing.
  • Non-surgical skin rejuvenation, acne treatment and permanent hair reduction.

Will Dr. Lu accept insurance in the future?
